One Day in Cincinnati

On the third leg of our Epic 2.5 Week Family Road Trip we are in Cincinnati, Ohio. Cincinnati is just over the river from Kentucky and is known as the Queen City. With its German influence, great beer, and sports scene this is a pit stop we enjoy making each year in our way to see family up north.

This year we decided to change things up and make a full day of Cincinnati and there is so much to see (we just got a glimpse)! We’ll be planning our next trip soon.

As always, this is our version of a trip. All depictions and information is solely based on our experience. I hope you use this as a reference for your next amazing adventure!!!

Here is what we did with One Day in Cincinnati:

Splish Splash!

When you think of Ohio (Northern Kentucky to be exact) you don’t quite think of aquatic animals, or at least I don’t, and to be honest this was our second choice activity. I originally wanted to go to the Duke Energy Children’s Museum but to my surprise it was closed on certain week days and this was one of those days. But, in comes the Newport Aquarium to save the day and wow did it surpassed all of my expectations!!!

The Newport Aquarium is just across the river from Cincinnati in Newport, Kentucky and home to some amazing fish and animals. The aquarium was perfectly sized for a quick afternoon trip and had all the wow moments of a big aquarium!

The Shark Bridge was one our family favorites and make sure to check out my full blog post of the aquarium!

On the Levee

You can’t go to the Newport Aquarium without checking out Newport on the Levee.

You can get the best view of Cincinnati from the top of the plaza. Have a bite to eat and something cold to drink while you are there too!

What’s Brewing?

You can’t go to a city known for it’s beer and not get a draft. The craft brew scene in Cincinnati is all the rave and we could probably plan a whole trip around just that (hmmm good idea) but this trip we picked one of the best.

Nine Giants is a bit off the beaten path and about 15-20 from downtown Cincinnati, but that’s what we liked about it (besides it’s beer obviously). Come hungry also because their food was just as awesome!

I’m not much of a beer aficionado, so I don’t have much of a review other than I had a stout and my husband had an IPA, the food was delicious, it had a family friendly vibe (with a kids menu and juice boxes), and the beer was flowing!

Take Me Out to the Ballgame

We are a baseball family through and through. We play, watch, and travel to new stadiums every chance we get. So, while in Cincinnati we had to go to one of our favorite MLB stadiums.

My son, husband, and in-laws enjoyed a night at the Great American Ballpark . This park is so family friendly and I can’t wait to share more about our experience!

Check back soon for more info on this amazing ballpark.

Dinner with a View

We found the most amazing restaurant with the most amazing views!

The Incline Public House is located in the hills above Cincinnati offering panoramic city views. The menu also offers a plethora of craft brews and delicious eats!
