We enjoyed a quick stop to the Heart of Dixie Railroad Museum on our recent road trip through Alabama. The museum is located just a few miles off of i-65 in Calera, Alabama.

Located between Montgomery and Birmingham this stop is perfect for a quick 20-30 minute adventure.
The Shelby & Southern Steam Railroad was a family favorite. The 3/4 mile round trip lasted roughly 10 minutes and only $3.50 per person. Check their website for more information.
Check out their gift shop for some unique themed trinkets. Lastly, spend some time walking the grounds and checking out some of their historical locomotives.

We also suggest stopping at the Tin Top Bar-B-Que for some amazing smoked bbq!
We were starving and this place came recommended. This is a very unassuming spot but the restaurant was clean, the staff friendly, and the food was delicious!!! We suggest the Pig Wings and the Pork Nachos!
