Family Picnic: My 3 Favorite Items for a Toddler

We love taking family road trips, whether near or far, and I love to pack a family picnic for us to eat along the way. We typically try to find a grassy shaded area for us to spread our blanket and for the kids to run around and play. I love the simplicity of a picnic, but finding items that are easy to bring along for a toddler can be difficult. I have found three of my favorite toddler (and beyond) products to share with you for the perfect, mess free, and simple family picnic!

Mess Free and Easy

My toddler is always making a mess when he eats and I always have a bib on hand for those big messes. I typically forget the dirty stained cloth bibs in the diaper bag and I get a gross surprise weeks later when I find the molded cloth bib shoved in the bottom of the bag.

On our picnics I typically pack a variety of foods, fruits, meats, cheeses, crackers, sandwiches, and everything in between. I try to come prepared with all the utensils that we will need and somehow I always bring a giant knife to cut the fruit, sharp forks for the adults and I always forget utensils for the kids.

These brightly colored utensils are perfectly sized for my toddler and my five year old even enjoys them. They are easy to clean, can be reused, and the carrying case is perfect to always have on hand. I was slightly disappointed that the case was a bit small and will only fit small kids sized utensils. A traditional adult sized utensils will not fit.

Thirsty Kid

When we are on the road I like to have a water bottle available for each son. I look for something durable, easy to use, fastens shut, and something that does not leak. There is not much worse that hearing “Mom, my drink spilled” while drive full speed down the interstate with no planned stops a head.

My big guy is always thirsty and is constantly asking for something to drink. I love having a large drink bottle for him to have when we are on-the-go.
